ΦBK 70th Anniversary Fundraiser with NY Times Columnist Nicholas Kristof In celebration of its 70th anniversary, the Cleveland Association of Phi Beta Kappa hosted a scholarship fundraiser to benefit recognition and scholarships for high-performing Cleveland area high school students and endow a four-year college scholarship. Maltz Museum Exhibit The Cleveland Association of Phi Beta Kappa toured "This Light of Ours," an exhibit at the Maltz Museum in Beachwood, Ohio. It was a significant and thought-provoking showing of nine activist photographers' work as part of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee during the Civil Rights movement. Unfortunately many of its themes persist today. We highly recommend visiting! |

Understanding Turkey’s Authoritarian Turn Historian Asli U. Bali, Ph.D. keynoted the the fourth annual Cleveland Association of ΦBK Forum at the City Club of Cleveland. "Understanding Turkey’s Authoritarian Turn" examined how the country has gone from being a “model” to a cautionary tale of democratic backsliding and political polarization, increasingly embroiled in ethno-sectarian violence, political instability and economic corruption. |
